About Suzanne: Working in an alla prima method, Suzanne Morris looks beyond the literal interpretation of a scene to capture the spirit of her subjects. Drawn to a scene that is magically transformed by the light falling across it, she uses a limited palette to create harmonious paintings that tell a story of a particular time and place.
She is a signature member of ASMA, PAAC, and PAPNM, and belongs to CAC, LPAPA, OPA, MAPAPA, OPS, and WAOW. She served as Show Chair for AIS in 2013. Recent honors include the ASMA East Invitational Exhibit, PAPNM’s 7th and 8th national exhibitions, the Salmagundi Club’s non –member show and WAOW’s 44th, 46th, and 45th National Exhibitions, where her painting “Big City, Bright Lights” won 3rd place. Her work has been selected for the OPS Southwest Salon in 2016 and 2017 and LPAPA’s “Less is More” “Urban Landscapes”, “California the Golden State 2017” and “Best of Plein air” exhibitions. She won the “Best Cityscape” award in MAPAPA’s Cityscape 2016 show. She participates in plein air competitions across the country. She has mounted at least one solo gallery show every year since she began painting full time. She has taught painting for 12 years. She has served as both entry and awards juror for national and gallery shows. Her paintings are held in both private and corporate collections across the country. Most notable of her corporate collectors are Duke University Hospitals, UCLA Medical Center at Irvine, Burt’s Bees, East Carolina Bank, and the Commandant of Midshipmen at The Naval Academy.
